A Good Salad Year-Round: Kat the Farmer

Kat Johnson is on her 5th season on her “farmlette”: a picturesque slice of veggie heaven in these blue ridge mountains.

“Kat The Farmer”, which is her brand and how many people know her, is a salad-centric grower. This means microgreens, culinary herbs, edible flowers, and all sorts of unique offerings that truly elevate our market’s offerings.

In addition to the veggies she brings to market, Kat also makes pesto and salad dressings, which she produces at Riverstone Organic Farm—another great farm here at the market! Eventually, she’ll diversify into online courses and crop plans too.

At the market, Kat’s best sellers are her famous lemon basil dressing, confetti microgreens, and lettuce mix. Kat is a wealth of knowledge and always wants folks to ask as many questions as they want!

Tucked back on a great corner of the market, stop by Kat’s booth soon. She’ll showcase all the fresh, delicious, and unique things that the farmlette has to offer.
